NO AFFILIATION WITH RIGHT TO LIFE PAMPHLET
Independent Member for Shepparton District Suzanna Sheed says a pamphlet on proposed voluntary assisted dying legislation that has been distributed in the Shepparton electorate was not produced by her office.
The pamphlet, which urges those opposed to voluntary assisted dying to contact Ms Sheed, was circulated by Right to Life Inc.
“Several people from the Shepparton and Mooroopna areas have contacted my office and were of the understanding that I had circulated the pamphlet. I would like to be clear, I have no affiliation with this organisation and did not distribute this pamphlet,” Ms Sheed said.
“I understand this is a sensitive and emotive issue which draws strong opinions and perspectives from many corners of the community.
“My office has received a large number of letters, emails and phone calls and I have spoken with many people to hear their views. I appreciate the calls and emails I have been receiving, particularly those from my own constituents who have chosen to share their personal experiences in relation to the death of a loved one.
“I would like to assure the electorate that I will be listening carefully to both sides of the debate and will take all views into account when deciding how to vote once a Bill is introduced to the Parliament.”
