Community Transport
Constituency question – My question is for the Minister for Health in the other place. Minister, what steps are being taken to address the funding inadequacy of our local community transport provider, Community Accessibility Inc?
As the minister will be aware, Community Accessibility is the main provider of community transport in our region. They have recently had to significantly reduce their service provision to Shepparton district patients. They have previously offered five days a week of service to transport the aged, people with disability and those with limited mobility to specialist medical appointments in Melbourne. This vital service has now been reduced to only two days a week due to lack of sufficient funding.
Since Community Accessibility reduced their days of service operation, I have been contacted by numerous constituents who have raised their concerns regarding the lack of access to this critical service.
