Location
Shepparton District is a regional urban and rural electorate about 170km north of Melbourne, and includes the townships of Ardmona, Barmah, Congupna, Dookie, Katandra West Katunga, Kialla, Mooroopna, Nathalia, Numurkah, Picola, Shepparton, Strathmerton, Tallygaroopna, Tatura, Toolamba, Waaia and Wunghnu, as well as several other small rural hamlets.
Population
The electorate is home to a vibrant and diverse community of approximately 70,000 people, with almost a quarter of the population being born overseas.
Shepparton District has a long history of welcoming new arrivals to the region and has a strong representation of multicultural communities from such countries as England, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Albania, Pacific Island nations, the Philippines, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan and more.
